Product

A focused workspace for front-end projects

Keep your markup, styles, scripts, preview, and project export in one browser workspace.

HTML·CSS·JS

Professional Code Editor

Ace-powered syntax highlighting, bracket matching, and code completion help you work with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript without installing a desktop editor.

Instant

Instant Live Preview

See your page update as you edit. Switch between side-by-side, full-screen, and device-size views to inspect the result.

Projects

Multi-File Projects

Keep related HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and asset files together. Browser storage preserves projects on this device unless you clear its site data.

Built-in

Format · Minify · Obfuscate

Format code for review, minify CSS or JavaScript, and optionally obfuscate JavaScript. Inspect the output before you publish it.

Export

Export as ZIP

Download your project files as a ZIP archive so you can keep a backup, continue locally, or prepare them for a web host.

Local

Local Project Storage

Projects are saved in this browser for your next session. Export a ZIP backup before clearing browser data or switching devices.

Difference

More than a snippet playground

HCODX combines a live preview, related project files, and export tools. It is most useful for front-end work you want to start quickly and take with you.

01

Project files stay local by default

The editor saves projects in browser storage rather than requiring an account. External resources in your preview can still make network requests.

02

Start without an account

No account or email is needed. Open the editor and start writing; your projects remain available in the same browser until its site data is cleared.

03

Built for real projects, not just demos

Group related files, format or minify code, and export a ZIP when you are ready to back up the project or move it elsewhere.

04

From single pages to multi-file work

Begin with a single HTML page, then add CSS and JavaScript files as the project grows. Preview each change before exporting.

How it works

From first HTML file to a portable project

1. Give the page a clear structure

Open the editor with an HTML file. Put a meaningful page title in <head> and the content people should see in <body>. Use headings, paragraphs, links, and buttons for their actual purposes; a visual preview cannot tell you whether the markup is semantic.

When the page grows, keep styles in a CSS file and behavior in a JavaScript file. Connect them with a stylesheet link and a script reference that match the files in your project. The HTML, CSS and JavaScript Editor shows how these parts work together.

2. Preview and debug in the browser

The live preview renders the current front-end files, so you can check layout, interactions, and browser behavior while editing. Use device-size views to catch overflow and the console to inspect JavaScript logs or errors. A rendered result is not proof that every HTML rule has been met; use the HTML Validator for a separate review.

3. Export, then test the files you will use

Export a ZIP before clearing browser data or moving to another device. After extracting it, check that linked files and assets still resolve. Opening a file locally and deploying it to a host are different environments, so test any network requests or server-dependent features in the destination environment.

Good to know

What a browser editor can and cannot do

Where are projects saved?

HCODX stores editor projects in this browser rather than in an account you can sign into elsewhere. The same device and browser can reopen saved work, but clearing site data or using a private window can remove it. Download a ZIP whenever you need a backup or want to transfer the files.

Does preview require a server?

HTML and CSS render in the browser, and front-end JavaScript runs in that browser context. A preview is not a PHP or Python server, database, or CORS bypass. External scripts, fonts, images, and API calls may require a network connection and may contact their own providers.

Which languages work in the live preview?

The editor is for HTML, CSS, and client-side JavaScript. You can write text in other languages, but the live preview does not compile or execute a Python, Java, PHP, or server-side application. For those, use a matching runtime or development server outside HCODX.

What should stay out of front-end code?

Do not put API secrets, private credentials, or sensitive data in code that runs in a browser; people can inspect a page's scripts. HCODX keeps project files in browser storage by default, but the site itself loads web assets and the preview can request external resources. Review dependencies and export a backup before relying on the project for important work.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Yes. You can open the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript editor, use its preview, and export a project without paying or creating an account.
No. Open the editor and start writing. Projects are saved in browser storage on this device, so export a ZIP if you need a backup or want to move to another browser.
Do not rely on the editor as a fully offline development environment. Initial page assets and any external resources in your preview may need a connection. Export a ZIP before going offline so you have the project files.
The live preview renders HTML and CSS and runs client-side JavaScript. It does not execute server languages such as PHP or Python, or provide a backend database.
Editor projects are stored in this browser by default, not in an account. The site loads web assets and usage analytics, while external scripts or APIs in your preview can make their own requests. Never put secrets in front-end code.
Yes. Download a multi-file project as a ZIP archive. Extract it to keep a backup or continue in a local editor. Hosting is a separate step; check file paths and behavior after moving the project.
HCODX is useful when you want related HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and asset files in one browser project, plus a ZIP to take away. For hosted sharing, collaboration, or a server runtime, choose a tool built for those needs.
Yes. Start with a small HTML page, change one element, and compare it with the preview. Add CSS for presentation and JavaScript for behavior. The HTML editor tutorial walks through the first steps.
The editor layout adapts to smaller screens, so you can make and preview edits on a phone or tablet. A keyboard and larger screen are more comfortable for multi-file work; export a backup before switching devices.
For a quick HTML, CSS, and JavaScript project, HCODX offers editing and preview without installing desktop software. It does not replace VS Code's extensions, terminal, debugger, or server tooling. See the VS Code Alternative for the trade-offs.
